Nicole Ari Parker, an American actor who has appeared on film and on television, in addition to in stage productions, is known for playing Teri Joseph, the fiery lawyer in the show the show on Showtime called Soul Food. After her marriage she became Nikki Kodjoe. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an aptitude for acting in her childhood and received a Best Actress award at an Maryland high school contest. Following her time in the theater as well as 'The Washington Ballet Company' she earned a degree in acting from 'New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love earned her a first-class role. It was then immediately followed by other films like "Boogie Nights Spark", Blue Streak". Contractor was born at Mumbai in India and grew up in Nigeria through the age of seven. She was already exposed to a lot of travel and cultures from a early age. At the age of seven through nine, she was a student at boarding schools in London. Her family then relocated to Toronto which she stayed in through the majority of her childhood. Contractor achieved academic success at the University of Toronto Toronto in addition to her training as ballerina. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts, a high school for the arts that was specifically designed to be a school where she was able to study not just dance but also drama. Contractor took the decision to study acting seriously at age of 16 following almost 10 years of dancing. After graduating high school, Contractor accepted a scholarship at the University of Toronto to pursue a dual major in psychology and sociology. In addition, she obtained a master's degree in Theater. After a single semester at the University, Contractor went to an open call audition for the play Pericles at the world-class famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the leading role. The show she played in 92 performances earned praise from Canadian theater critics. The conservatory in Stratford accepts eight men, four women along with a couple of additional people to take a 20 week crash course. Contractor's spot was assured in the next season of shows as she was offered the role for the role of Hermia A Midsummer Night's Dream.
